About Karigane:
Karigane is green tea made from collecting twigs which have dropped out during the selection and sorting process of Sencha and Gyokuro tea leaves. Karigane rich in L-theanine, the critical amino acid and has a light and plain taste. It can easy be brewed with boiling water.
Karigane is an inexpensive tea as it is a by-product of Gyokuro and Sencha production. However, in recent years, demand has often exceeded supply due to its ease of preparation, excellent sweetness, umami and flavor components. This development is causing the price to rise.
